NECC’s After-School Program is a great option for children in elementary and early middle school (K-6) looking for a safe and enriching environment during the after-school hours.
We encourage learning, socializing, recreation, physical activity, and community service. (Learn more about our middle-school clubs here!)

Watch GRAPPS - the cool new video the BRYTE students created with the CHildren's Media Project (with funding from County dollars through the Dutchess County Children's Services Council Children's Health Initiative. )

Our many activities include:
• Daily homework help, nutritious snack, and outdoor play time.
• Creative literacy projects based on the Fast Forward curriculum, which is tied to the learning goals for each grade—helping ensure that every student is prepared for and able to complete schoolwork.
• Character development and community service projects
• Physical fitness and sports
• Crafts, dance, and creative arts
• Games, movie days, and pure fun.

Recent projects and activities have included:
• Reading with a “literacy dog,” which helps emerging readers feel relaxed and confident reading out loud to a supportive and silent friend
• Science projects based on the innovative “FETCH!” curriculum developed by PBS Kids, which encourages curiosity, persistence, and creative thinking.
• Writing and illustrating a “Kids Voice” newsletter.
• Starting and tending flower and vegetable seeds for NECC’s community garden.

NECC’s enriching and comprehensive afterschool
program is available to children in kindergarten through sixth-grade.* The program meets on all scheduled schooldays, previously scheduled half-days, and teacher conference
days (but not during cancellations due to extreme weather) from dismissal until 6 pm. A before-school option may be available if there is sufficient interest (please inquire).

*A separate program, for middle-school students in 6th through 8th grades, consists of a series of exciting clubs. Contact NECC for details.

Facility

Our program’s home is the former Millerton
