NECC has several ongoing programs that enable low-income members of our community to get extra help and support.
In addition to these programs - the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and the Extra Helpings Food Coop, described below- we also have the opporutnity, thanks to various donors, of providing other goods and services to those who need them. Recently, for example, we were able to provide families wth back-to-school shoes, and discounts on their utility bills. Currently available are:

Discount Drug Cards: provided by the United Way of Dutchess County, these provide significant discounts on most discount drugs and are accepted at many local pharmacies. Call or stop by between 9-5 to get one.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance : In 2006 we helped 33 families with incomes under $38,000 complete their 1040's and 1040 EZ's. In 2007 we will be adding several other common forms, enabling us to serve more families. Volunteers welcome, training provided.

By appointment only, call after January 1 to make an appointment.

Extra Helpings Food Coop
Anyone who could use a bag of high-quality groceries at a discounted price can benefit from this program. Sign up at the beginning of the month for the basic package or several specials, which vary monthly. The items arrive at the end of the
month. Call or stop by to get a menu. A program of the Regional Food Bank through the Dutchess Community Action Partnership.
