After-School Program Leader

Position: Development and Marketing Coordinator

Vision and mission: The Development and Marketing Coordinator builds interest, enthusiasm and support for NECC’s mission, and creates avenues for communication in both directions – from NECC to supporters and donors (now and future) but also from the community back to NECC, enabling and empowering individuals to share their views and join in the discussion of where NECC is heading how it can best fulfil its mission of building a strong community.

After-School Program Leader: Approx. 25 hours/week

Overview: Plan, organize and lead activities for students in grades 4-8th grade, held at the Eugene Brooks Intermediate School, Webutuck School District.

NECC is a place that nurtures its staff – we provide training, support, competitive pay, staff outings and get-togethers and encourage each and every member of our team to develop to their fullest potential.

This daily program provides a safe, nurturing environment – we strive to create a high quality, creative, fun place to be. It includes clubs, homework help, leadership activities, arts, recreation and sports, field trips, and community service. Projects may include developing a school garden/farm and cooking club.

The program runs daily from 2:15 - 6:00.

The Leader’s role is to ensure a safe and enriching environment for the students. Your specific responsibilities will include developing clubs and programming ideas for different age groups, leading activities, supervising students, ensuring they follow program rules, encouraging their participation, providing one-on-one and group homework help. You will have the opportunity to create special activities based on your own particular interests and experience and to recruit outside teachers and leaders as well.

This is a 25-hour a week position, for the school year – 5 afternoons and one morning a week.  Opportunities may exist to extend it to a year-round position through various summer-only programs at NECC.

Your specific responsibilities will include:

Reporting Relationship: You will be supervised during program time by the Program Director.

ADA Requirements:
To succeed in this position, an individual must be able to:

Qualifications: High School graduate; college preferred. Computer literate. (MS Office, Internet research.) Previous experience working with this age group (9 – 14) preferred.  Experience with arts/crafts, sports, tutoring or other area of specialization a plus. Must have valid drivers license and good record.  Must be reliable, a positive thinker and problem solver, and must LOVE kids.
